    Life in a Giddy World
A Giddy World

Tropical Ecology

  • Ian and  Genevieve Giddy lead a discussion of the unique character of the web of life in  tropical forest.
  • Tropical forests possess an unusually rich biodiversity. But why?  Illustrating their talk with images of life in a Costa Rican cloud forest, Ian  and Jenny explore theories of the rich and complex ecology of the tropics. Our research on Neotropical ecology is presented as descriptive  (like tree species diversity), as evolutionary (how Heliconia found its perfec pollinator), and as predictive (notably, what's we're discovering about restoration ecology).
